CNP Workshop: Etta and Ella on the Upper West Side
Ensemble Theater II
Etta and Ella Harrison are talented academics on the Upper West Side - as well as sisters and rivals. They frequently write and teach together, sourcing from family history and often writing similar works. After a lifetime of competition, they are on the verge of destroying each other. Troupe, a one-time friend of Etta's, is determined to find out why. Adrienne Kennedy intricately blends monologue, dialogue, voiceover, and prose in this part experimental play, part narrative thriller. This CalArts Center for New Performance workshop, led by director Monty Cole, explores a live, cinematic approach to this world premiere play from one of American Theatre's most seminal experimental writers.
